Burco

General
Platform: Macintosh

Fonts:
Type 1 preferred-Type 3 or Truetype should be converted to outlines whenever possible.
Resolution: The minimal amount Burco accepts is 200dpi at 100%. The preferred resolution is 355dpi at 100%.

Color Mode:
CMYK (We can accept LAB or RGB but color remapping will more than likely happen.)

Spot Colors:
Burco does not print in spot mode

Color Accuracy:
If it’s imperative that a color be a certain value, then a PMS to Process book should be used. Use the Process swatches and breakdowns indicated by the PMS Swatch Book. Any other method will more than likely create a fluctuation in color since other methods of estimation will vary in equipment and printers.

Bleed:
A 1 pica bleed should be built into the document on all sides.

Acceptable Formats
Tiff (.tif)
EPS (.eps)
Photoshop (.psd)
PDF (If resolution is properly set, along with color mode and fonts embedded).
Adobe Illustrator (.ai) Compatible to version 10.0.1, However any transparency features are NOT compatible with current RIP and will not output correctly.
JPEG (.jpg) LOW compression, HIGH quality

Applications
Quark XPress
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign
(Burco uses only to create eps’s of original parent file to output.) Not recommended, could result in type reflow, image issues and other problems. We will not be responsible for any inaccuracies due to Pagemaker incompatibility.

Recommendations:
The easiest way to send files is a Tiff of each side at 355dpi in CMYK (Don’t interpolate and make sure bleed in intact). Using this method, no fonts or support files will be needed HOWEVER if any changes need to be made, Burco will NOT be able to make changes and customer will have to send in new tiffs as needed. This method will assure adisk ready job.

If original files are the way you prefer to send files, make sure all support files are included in CMYK at aboveresolution specs (also .psd versions when available), Fonts (type 1), and a 1 pica bleed. Make sure all fonts for support files are included as well.
